Hi guys...its been a long time since i posted, and I am not seeing audio, cowsgomoo and and all the OG posters anymore. Come on guys come back!!! Anyways, I needed some advice on the application. I shadowed a dentist in India for a month, I shadowed here for about a year but around 5 hours a week or so. And I did volunteering at a hospital before I entered undergrad. That was one of the main reason I switched to dentistry. However, I worked thoroughout college for 20 hours a week, and didn't really "volunteer" at a dental school or of that sort. Now that I quit work, I am going to do it starting May. I was wondering whether it will be seen in a positive light by the people, because by the time I have interviews(hopefully), I will have many hours. Do you guys think this is enough EC? I have really solid stats. Any opinions or criticisms? Please give me some feedback. Thanks.

you'll be fine. people get in with much less impressive extracurriculars than yours. I mean, you already shadowed more than 200 hours (5 hours a week in 1 year) , which is more than plenty. You don't necessarily need to volunteer at a dental school. I doubt many people volunteer at dental schools anyway.

You should be fine with that much dental experience. I know of many people that got into schools with far less than 200 hours under their belt (myself included).

i think it shoud...i mean explain that you HAD to work during undergrad and that you really couldn't do many activities.

also try to get a letter of recomendation from the dentist in india and then another one from the dentist you'll be shadowing now...at least that's what i think. 😛

you'll be fine

thanx guys...getting a rec from india will not be possible since he doesn't really speak English, plus I only worked for about a month, so it seems superfluous. Thanks a lot.
