What are the best extracurricular activities to jump into? I don't see how I can find time for the activities with the class load and working.

Anything that interest you. Doesn't have to be research or something related to dentistry. Schools admit people not just stats.

I would agree with the above statement...do what YOU really like doing/want to do (besides shadowing). I don't know if they have like a public service program at your school but if they do, try doing that. They will get you involved in a variety of volunteer opportunities. Also, a really nice one to put on an application is volunteering at a free dental clinic (and the good thing about those is that you usually get to assist!).
