My p3 is six month of school and then the rotations... But, those six month people say is hell. But, it's a combination of having to move. Also, seeing the people that you're not too fund of again. Going to class, cramming, etc... this is the least i've ever wanted to start school. I'd much rather work.

ANyone can relate? completely disagree?

yes, totally. Your sentiments mirror mine to the t. Fortunately, I am completely done with the didactic portion. With a gun to my head, I would not do it again.

I didnt mind the material, infact, I enjoyed learning. Its just the whole "school" thing (lecture-study-cram-regurgitate-repeat) that I passionately hated.

For us only P4 (including the summer right after P3) is rotations. P3 is considering to be as tough, if not a little easier, than P2. Im sorry

My 3rd year was 12 months. The later years are more clinical and interesting so they were easier to study

thats really interesting that some of yalls p3's are rotational. i think that could be really beneficial especially if your school is associated with a good medical center. some schools i would really question though.

what do you guys think about p3 being just rotations? i would think the best strategy would be 1 semester didactic and then 2 semesters rotational

Yep, I've learned more during my rotations than I ever did in the classroom. It's too bad that my school made rotations Pass/Fail. I was hoping to use rotations as a GPA booster. The policy isn't fair to people who learn more through practical work, rather than classroom work and taking tests.

Im just going into my P1 year, but im at a 3 year school (year round). We are on the block system, tests every other friday, and on the opposite friday we are on rotations for an 8 hour day. the 3rd year is almost all rotational based as well.

One day a week rotations? Seriously?

It is one day every other week rotations actually but that is in the P1 and P2 year. There is also a six week rotation in the summer. After that, you have rotations the whole last year. How do other schools do it?

PY1

PY2
Summer IPPE rotation
PY3
PY4=APPE rotations (begins that summer)

We do IPPE rotations spring quarter PY3 and APPE start immediately after in PY4 "summer"

P1 Year (Pick from January, June, July, August)
Introductory Community Pharmacy Rotation
Introductory Public Health Rotation

P2 Year (Pick from January, June, July, August)
Introductory Hospital Rotation
Introductory Long Term Care Rotation

P3 and P4 Year - You have 11 rotations, 2-3 electives (depending on how many you did in P2 year), a capstone project, and something about emerging issues in pharmacy practice.
