I'm working at a pharmacy part time now while going to school and I was wondering if anyone knew which over the counter eyedrops are the best to recommend to someone. I heard in the past that Visine were not good but I can't remember why.

use restasis or refresh liquigel (they help emulate tears better and also get your body to produce more too)

wow, drbizzaro...i haven't seen your posts in awhile...

how have you been?

If some one is using the drops for an extended amount of time, or several times a day, a non-preseved tear is best. These are the ones that come in single use vials. The gel types (ie. Celluvisc) work really well at keeping your eye moist, but they are so thick they distort your vision. I recommend that patients uses these at night before they go to bed or when vision is not that critical.

Systane is also a good OTC one.

Genteal and Refresh Tears are also good options if you want preservative free, but would prefer a bottle to a single use vial.
