To the Pre-Med Students out there: I am a board-certified Medical Director on the West Coast. I enjoy my work and feel enriched to help patients at their time of need. After over a decade of post-graduate training, I wanted to share a message of encouragement to all of you. Getting into medical school and then completing residency and fellowship training is grueling. There are times where you doubt yourself and where you feel at an absolute dead end. Don't give up. Don't allow cynicism or self-doubt make you question whether you belong in the medical field. It is large and expansive - and we need your generation to help lead the future of American healthcare. In this journey of medicine, you will be witness to incredible highs and lows. Take heart in this journey and do not allow anyone to underestimate how great you can be. Keep moving forward with a kind heart and best of luck from a doctor who remembers all too well as a college student how it felt to wonder what the future holds.
