F2F Visit Requirements

Needing some help with clarification regarding H&P and required 3 face to face visits on the inpatient side. I know historically the H&P didn't count towards the 3 required visits but I heard that was recently changed. Is that still the case or you still need 3 separate visits outside the H&P per week? I can't seem to find anything on my own search. Thanks.

I believe H&P does count as a face to face visit.

Ive always been told and still operate as h&p and dc summary can be face to face notes that count. My biller/coding/compliance people tells me this counts. Its also important as i put dme stuff on there and that requires face to face. I have a small blurb on my dc summary template that says

Brief progress note
Patient seen on day of discharge. Exam unchanged from prior day. Pain is controlled. Appetite good. Dc planning and medications reviewed.


Then i make any adjustments to that text based on how patient actually doing.
