Hello - I am in the process of writing an F30 for the upcoming application window (08/08/2025). Sources have said that the NIH will no longer be funding animal model projects. However, my research project focuses on an animal model for a dermatological condition (with an expressly translational scope). Should I be worried about this funding ban?
Many thanks!

Now, of course the language is vague. I don't think they will move away from animals entirely. I mean, it's not like you are going to experiment on humans instead of mice for hypothesis testing and compound development. But I don't think you can just do animal models and cells or study just animal-based disease, it has to have a human component. That actually makes some sense to me.
