I'm trying to decide what additional books to purchase, and though I've looked through tons of the booklists in the stickies above, I'm still having a hard time because I'm not sure what I can trust FA for, and what I need to supplement it with. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Pharm needs no supplement

Some would argue that anatomy/histo/biochem need no supplement.

Everything else, supplement with either BRS books (Path, Physio, Behavioral) or HY (neuro, Cell/Mol).

Check out the sticky threads at the top of the forum. Lots of useful info there. G'luck.

Totally wrong on all counts. Pharm definitely needs supplementation. The antineoplastic drugs are not well-represented and there were more than a few on my version of the exam. I suggest at least looking over this section in Katzung or his review. For histo, biochem, and anatomy...FA is not too strong (except for the classical biochemistry which is adequately relayed). The HY books really help the anatomical science portions of your studying.

Hey, what I spit out in terms of advice is what I've read from the top scorers on SDN, on prep4usmle.com, and from students who I personally know who crushed Step 1. Obviously there will be some variation when it comes to advice, but no need to shot me down like that. I'm just the messenger...if anything.

Reread your post. The only thing different b/w what you said and what I said was that pharm needs to be supplemented. Otherwise, we're in agreement...

I'm just trying to give you guidance so you won't be tempted to blow off those subjects and study FA alone.
