Factors affecting buoyant force

Which one of these two factors affect the buoyant force? Edit: It's a discrete.

1.) size and shape of object

OR

2.) volume of the fluid

I'd say 1 but I need a context to answer for sure. Relative density comes into play. And if you've the qe2 sitting in a swimming pool the buoyancy will be different than if it were in the Atlantic.
 
The wording is way too vague. Shape and size should not matter if the mass of the object is the same and it still floats. If it sinks, the volume also has to be the same.


Volume of the fluid? As in the volume of the container in which you are submerging your object? That does not matter.

That means if you compare two objects that float and are the same mass, then their size doesn't matter. Only their total mass does. For buoyant force of a submerged object, only #1 would be significant.
