Okay this question might have a very obvious answer, but I don't know it.

Regarding LORs, what does the term "faculty member" include?

Off the top of my head, I can think of these people involved in the teaching (or lack of) part of the university:

-Professors
-Assistant Professors
-Lecturers
-Teaching Assistants
-Tutors sponsored by the school

So are they all a "faculty member"? Or is it just the professors? I am confused @_@a

Just the professors. TAs Tutors etc are all considered staff.

For LOR purposes, you want to only get the Ph.Ds and maybe M.S.s who coordinate a lecture class on his/her own. I wouldn't get a LOR from someone who is still taking classes for a degree at the same school as you. Don't get a LOR from a TA who is younger than you.😉
