FAFSA concerns

starsweet said:So I haven't filled out my FAFSA yet... 🙁 I was wondering if it is really late now?
I'm confused about what schools to put on it, do I just list all the schools I've applied to? I'm not sure where I will be attending yet.
Same here... I was trying to hold out on sending it until I heard back from the rest of the schools I applied to. Maybe that's not a good idea? Ugh, I hate all this ****... it's so confusing.

the only deadline i've heard from a school is to have it filed by March...sadly i've forgotten which school made the request.
edit: and yes, therefor it would be a good idea to go ahead and file it for all the schools to which you applied...though i'm yet to do that myself...

I finally filed my taxes so now I have no excuse not to finish my FAFSA. No, I haven't done it either! 😱 Why am I such a procrastinator? Ok, I have Tuesday off work- it's happening!!!!
You can file a preliminary FAFSA with an estimate of your tax figures. This is what I did. Of course, once your taxes are complete, you'll need to amend your FAFSA. You can do this if you are curious to see what your calculated family contribution will be.
Does anyone know when they start sending out the Award Letters?
UF said they'd starting sending out award letters in early April, after their March 1 deadline.
Don't forget to get your parents' tax info if you're not an independent student. I'm over 24 and don't live at home, so didn't have to worry about it, but I know some schools want parent info even if you're independent, so check on that.
It's not too late to fill the FAFSA out, just make sure you do it online to beat the deadline. I submitted mine at the beginning of the month, and they processed it within 2 or 3 days.

For financial aid, I think that was it. We can't apply for most of the financial aid that the COP has, since it's mainly for 2nd to 4th years.
I saw on the web page there's a financial aid application just for incoming first years, but it's not open yet for us to fill out. The deadline was August 2005 for last year's, so I'm assuming it'll open up late spring/summer.

Me too!! havn't filled out Fafsa...I totally forget about this..I am still waiting for some other schools...I'm gonna fill out Fafsa now before I forget about it again...
the most general response I have heard is that the priority deadline is March 1st and then some schools have a more specific date later on... like Creighton's is april 1. I just did mine earlier today and it said on the website that it only takes 3-4 days to be processed if you do it online. As for the parent info, i am an independent student so i just filled out my info and i'll change it later if the school i decide to go to needs my parent info.

About how long did it take you to fill it out online?
I just submitted my FASA today. It takes me about an hour to fill out the form online. Recommended to file your tax first, it will make your life so much easier when filling out this form. If you do not have pin #, do it now, I got mine 4 days after the request.
