When filling out the FAFSA for Optometry school, is it better to include information about your parents income or not? FAFSA gives you the option, but I am not sure which is more beneficial. Thanks!

During my interview at ICO, the financial aid advisor told us to put in the parent information even though it is not required because it will only benefit us, if anything. However, I would suggest you confirm that with a financial aid advisor at schools you are interested in.

Because grad students like us are considered independents, our parents' financial information is not considered when financial aid is awarded. However, if you want to be considered for the HPSL loan (Health professions student loan), you are required to put down your parents' financial information. That loan is probably the best one you can get because it's subsidized (you don't have to pay the interest while you're in school). So like 20twenty said, it can only help to put your parents' info on there.
