Hello there,

I am a senior applying in this coming cycle (therefore I would be taking a gap year).

My first question is: is there any reason to fill out this year's FAFSA? If I take 1 or 2 post-bacc classes as a non-degree seeking student, apparently, financial aid is unavailable and I would have to pay out of pocket. So, does anyone see a reason why I would fill the current FAFSA out, especially since I'll be starting Med school (if i get accepted) in August 2015??

Second question: I've been looking over the AMCAS application and for the work/activities section is it PERMISSIBLE to list one of my activities that I have received credit for?? For example, in the case of research for credit OR something like a regional "Physics Bowl" competition where you've actually won and received an award for (and also took it as credit)? I'm just not sure how ADCOMS will look at something like this that you've received credit for (won't really care as long as you learned something/great experience OR would care considering you might have these activities somewhere else on your app??) Please chime in.

Thanks in advance!

1. nope (assuming FA is unavailable, as you say)

2. I think listing research for credit as 'research' is fine (because the credits don't really matter anyway).

Good luck!

Yes, many applicants list things in the "experience" section for which they received credit: choral and musical groups, studio arts, research, volunteering that was part of a course in sociology or something, study abroad listed as "travel".
