On the FAFSA form I'm filling out, it says: "You are considered an "independent" student. This means you are not required to answer questions about your parents."

Would it be more beneficial for me (financially) to include my parents info? I have grown up middle/upperclass.

Thanks!

I would check on the schools you applied to/were accepted at. For example, I know if you want certain loans to attend Pitt you need to include your parents' information.

Yes. Check with the school you are attending.

Mine has loans/scholarships that they'll only offer you if you provided your parental info.

This is from our next steps guide "Please be aware that to be considered for Health Professions Loans (HPL) and Loans for Disadvantaged Students (LDS) funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, you must supply parental financial information on Step Four (questions #59-94) and signature (question #105) on the 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA). This information is used only for purposes of inclusion."

Yes you should if you want to be considered for the Health Professions Student Loan and other institutional financial aid. Parent information is a requirement for HPSL, and most dental schools require it for their own internal programs as well.

I would, it came up in my interview for casual talk and it's pretty easy to talk about what your parents do.
