Is it better to start your FAFSA without your tax-return done? The thing is, I haven't gotten my W-2 yet. Is it best to put in estimates and then fill in the actual numbers when you're sure?
thx.

fill it out now. schools cant give you an award estimate without it. if your w-2 is close enough to what you estimate now then your award wont change much when you change fafsa later.

If your taxes aren't finished yet, you have to use last year's tax return. You can update the new information later.

Also, if you're going into med school next year, DON'T write in your parent's info. It's not needed.

Some schools require parent info for institutional grants and loans, but you don't need parent info for federal loans. You should probably just put the parent info on the FAFSA in case the school you end up at requires it for institutional money. If they don't require it, they won't even look at it, so it won't hurt you.
