So here is my situation..
My parents are claiming me on their taxes this year because they helped me out with college this year. However, i will be on my own next year adn I was wondering if i can just put my info on my FAFSA or if i still have to include my parents since they claimed me this year. thanks for any help.

Assuming you are in medical or dental school (or any professional/graduate school) the FAFSA treats you as an independent.

You do not need to put your parental info on the FAFSA.

If you do, the parental numbers will be ignored when the EFC is calculated.

Contact your school financial office with this question. Some schools require parental data on the FAFSA even though they aren't used for the EFC. The reason is that the numbers get sent from FAFSA to the school computers where they can be used for school finaid calculations.

Most schools just get parental numbers from you via a separate questionnaire, however.
