I failed an oncogene class that was taken as an elective. It won't count towards my GPA because my number of credits exceed the required amount. Nonetheless, there will be an F on my transcript. What do I do? Do you think it is possible for them to rescind the acceptance?

Thank you.

Did your acceptance letter say anything about classes? For temple, it states I cant fail or withdraw from a class ( I believe). I would call them up and see right away, very big risk you are running by failing a class.

SDN cannot answer this question for sure. It is going to depend on the situation and the school. CALL the School as soon as you can to explain the situation. Depending on which school you were excepted to will depend on their respones.

Is it possible? Sure it is possible but I am not going to say that is for sure what is going to happen because I don't know. 👍

you gotta call the school.

It is possible, I've seen it happen to people before. Make sure that you are upfront and honest when you talk to the school.

i thought ALL courses count towards your GPA regardless of how many credits you have.

How do you fail a class? I am sure you could get a C in your sleep if you put even a modicum of effort into the class.

And yes, the dental school may rescind your offer. Call & see so you can plan.

wow...all I can say is...why why why?? U are already in and you just put your future in jeopardy, get in touch with the school ASAP...you may have to repeat for a better grade...

Yeah, and there should be strong warnings midway where you could have dropped the class to avoid this situation.

yeah you must not have showed up to any classes or something...

I think you should just do the honest thing and fess up. I'm sure you are a moral guy/gal and even if they don't notice because it doesn't affect your GPA, you don't want to start off without being 100% clear.

they do for dental schools. schools can give you whatever gpa they want, aadsas calculates their own.

Call the school. You unfortunately can't get a straight answer on these forums...

call the school, explain them of the situation and be HONEST. if they learn something that you refrained from telling them, it will raise red flags in their minds. good luck.

Wait... how can you already be accepted? If you were, you would already be in dental school by now. Am I missing something? haha

EDIT: Damn. I just realized this thread was resurrected by the dude above me lol. Nevermind! 😀

I'm on the same boat! I'm afraid on Dec 1st I'll get accepted, but then I'll fail a class and they'll take back their offer. T_T"

Do they do it just if you fail?

What if you get a D?

I'm still going to try hard, but that one class is looking pretty bleak for me. :\

Most schools, if not all, would rescind an offer if the student got a D or F. Let's admit, there's not much difference between D and F.

It actually depemds on the class. If it's a requird or pre-req class than they might take it away. It sounds the oncogene cancer class was a small class that most likely was not required so I would doubt they would take his/her acceptance away.
