Ive never failed a class since the begginning of school, but I failed comp I my freshman year due to working 60 hrs a week and not having priorities set straight. My gpa took one hell of a shot down, but i got it up to 3.6 im in my sophmore year. Will any med schools take me =/

As you can see I didnt put much info about myself because i'd rather have my identity unknown. Most embarassing thing in my life. Im pretty sure theyll ask me about it in my interview, if they even give me one.

don't sweat it. I dropped out of college my second semester and got three F's. Med schools won't be as concerned about your failure as they will be about how you recovered from it. Be ready to explain the F though.
Good Luck

3.6 is a fine GPA... Remember they also look at science separate from other classes.
There are people who have failed classes and have gotten into med school.

I'm sure that if you have a good MCAT and extracurriculars that the med schools will at least glance at your application.

Qafas has it right. You can recover from a poor start by knocking out the rest of your classes. (believe me I know from experience and I was worse off than you) Keep up the good work, MCAT, and extracurricular activities and you should be fine. Good luck!

As long as you can explain the grade, and have shown the improvement that you say you have, you should be fine.

I had one F (gasp) in calculus in undergrad, basically due to a clerical error. I dropped a class (or so I thought) but got an F. I didn't get it fixed because I was going to retake it (got an A next time), and I thought that the F would be gone. (I was a little naive)

Needless to say, the F is still on my college transcript (GO WKU), and I still got into medical school (now a M2).

Good luck, and don't let one bad spot worry you too much. I'd just explain it - even if it's not asked about, doesn't hurt to be cautious.

You should be fine if you explain the grade. A 3.6 is a solid gpa. I have a lower gpa (3 fat C's on my transcript) and I have 7 interviews lined up, including one top 10. I felt like you after frosh/soph year--like I had no chance-- but I kept on trying. So don't look back, just keep a positive attitude.

Dude, working 60 hours a week makes "A"s really difficult. Take it easy on yourself. Even if those medical people judge you on it, you shouldn't judge you on it. Heck, just having the cajones to take classes when you're working that much spells D-E-T-E-R-M-I-N-A-T-I-O-N to me -- and I wouldn't be at all shy about pointing that out to them.

And, frankly, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm sure you weren't working 60 hours a week for the hell of it.

I have a question...my freshman year I made a D in Introductory to Chemistry. Should I retake it or just let it be? I also made a C- in Chem 1 but retook it and made a B should I retake it and try and make an A?

Don't sweat it Abraham. I failed an anthro class but recovered (and retook) and nobody said a thing to me about it in interviews. I've also just about gotten one of every grade in the rainbow at some point in my long college career. As long as you have some other standout qualities, they will overshadow those temporary weaknesses.

Bubba: a string of Cs and below does not bode well. Make sure you retake or take an advanced chem class, and really think hard about why you did poorly so you can avoid repeating your mistakes.

good luck!

It will be okay. Just do your best in the rest of your classes. It's not like you were sitting on your ass doing nothing but failing. Explain on your application your financial troubles and they should be understanding. I was talking to the associate dean at Columbia University and she told me that they regularly take applicants that make C's in classes like orgo. You just better have a reason for it.
