Hey yall
I finally made it to the end of a very long OMS1 only to find out that I failed my anatomy lab class. I took the remediation exam this week and got a 65%. My schools policy is that if you score less than a 70% on a remediation exam, you must retake the entire year, not just the one course. Obviously I am heartbroken bc I did well in all my other classes and I’m now stuck repeating the year over a 1 credit anatomy lab (which they only introduced to the school a few years ago). I did fine in our written anatomy block and literally every other anatomy exam within a systems block. I have no idea where to go from here and it just feels so hopeless repeating the ENTIRE year bc of this one lab. Of course my school won’t allow anyone to just repeat that one course over the summer. I was really stressed about the exam and my course director told me “if it makes you feel better nobody has failed their remediation exam while I’ve been course director” which I find hard to believe bc there were some hard questions. It was 95 cadaver and imaging questions, free response, and can’t go back to the previous question once you answer. Is there any point in appealing this; maybe seeing if there were any grading errors due to the subjectiveness of a free response exam? I’m not trying to step on anyone’s toes, but the sentiment that I’m not competent to move forward despite doing well in all my actual block classes is really disheartening. I don’t know what to do and repeating the entire year, all the emotional stress that comes with it feels like hell on earth. Please help
