NBME 2 - 470
NBME 3 - 800
UW 69 %

Still failed the Step 1 today, got 165/65, never expected this score, would recheck help? Went through Goljan Patho, BRS (behav Sci), Kaplan for rest. Planning to appear again in December. Any feedback will be highly appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance.

I would scrap whatever you were using and try all new resources-- something didn't click for you. Also explore on site practice test options -- test anxiety may have hurt you. I wouldn't waste too much time with a recheck; this was more important back in the days of graphite pencil bubbling, where stray marks could cost you points -- in the days of computerization, the score is going to come out the same no matter how many times they press the print button.

your stats dont match up,
did something happen on your actual test day? were you going through a lot of anxiety? or some other problem? or you just blanked out

this thread is bull****. nobody would ever in a million years spell Goljan as golchan. it smacks of BS big time.

It seems fishy to me too. 800/265+ on NBME 3 and pulls a 165 on the real deal, I am skeptical until the poster comes back and answers some questions.

mispronouncing "Goljan" is possible, but misspelling is a different thing...if you are an honest, no BS poster we can try to give you some advice. but this does not add up to making sense and i hope that others who have yet to take the test do not get frightened over this...

So you took the test today and you already have your score? This may be BS. He/she is a new member, this is the first post of the user. Dont feed the

well it might be true .. i cant see the pleasure in just purely scaring a bunch of poor med students that are writing their exam soon (like myself taking it in 6 days) ... definately made me get up the bed and study, i was getting lazy,

I am writing this on behalf of my wife! I am not a doctor! I overheard this, Goljan or golchan is same for me, she got so nerveous today and I have seen her both NBME and U World test scores, she still has them! Its not easy looking at her USMLE test report after so many months of hard work!

Ask whatever you want to ask, again, I am writing this on behalf of my wife and I still wish it be skeptical ,if that can happen!

Dude, sorry if people are coming across with skepticism, but statistics show that someone who can score a near perfect on the practice exam shouldn't even be close to failing...and people like to lie on here to get a laugh.

If this is true, sounds like the real deal was a fluke, take it again asap while the info is still lodged in her head.

How do you get a percentage on an NBME? I've never seen scores reported like this.

While 99% correct equaling an 800/265+ seems reasonable, it's difficult to see how 87% correct translates into a 470/211. This would mean that the average score of 220 translates into 90% correct...does this math make sense to anyone?

Not possible. If you scored 800 on an NBME, you either looked up the answers to that test and didn't actually know anything or you would have had to be unconscious during the actual step 1 to score 165. That's like going from answering 95% of questions correctly to answering 50% of questions correctly. 5 standard deviations difference? Not possible.

Well I scored 248 in NBME form 5 ,5 days before the exam.During the exam I had anxiety that made me lose focus.I left the prometric with great regret.
I believe that anxiety can be more destructive. Thanks God ,I passed with score 232/97.The anxiety made me loss few points , but I'm satisfied.

wow, lots of FMGs in here.

And i still say this entire thing is a bunch of crap. No one gets ~90% on two consecutive NBMEs and still fails unless you have serious anxiety to the point that you curled up in the fetal position during the entire exam.

In order for anyone to offer you advice, you need to provide more details about what happened - a case of nerves, questions were unfamiliar, ran out of time, etc. Posting these scores that don't make sense doesn't provide any insight into what went wrong and is just distracting folks from providing advice about the real problem you're having.

Like I said 20 posts back, this thread is a load of hogwash. an utter waste of time. good thing i have time to waste, and nothing better to do. seems that's the case for everyone else still reading and posting in this ******ed thread.

Some of you are so Heartless.
If you don't believe her just Ignore the Thread. It is just like Medicine. You don't assume that your patient is always making up his/her symptoms (Conversion or Somatization) until you have ruled out any organic cause.
Just give her the benefit of doubt and look forward to this us a difficult Diagnosis to make.
And that comes with trying to understand her...was she nervous on the Exams day, was she sick.
NBME is supposed to be a good measure but again I have met a lot of pple who have come short or ended up doing better. So those who can't help her shd just stop being a Dickhead instead of behaving like they got Lie Detectors. So lets say she is saying the truth and she is depressed, how the hell are you helping her with the scatching attacks???
