Basically the title says it all. I have 99's on the real steps and I thought I did well on the CS. Guess not. So, my question is, what to do now? I am begging for a prematch, if that doesn't work I am going into the scramble. Since the scramble is almost impossible in radiology, what should I do? Enter a prelim medicine year? If so, how do I find out about available PGY2 spots in radiology? Or would I have to do 2 years of prelim medicine(by entering next years match) to get to a rads residency?

Any thoughts?

They are doing away with the CS next year, right? How can they use this against you, if you won't be able to retake the test?

Relax. Double 99's are great. Failing the clinical step, might actually be a positive for radiology. 😛 .

Seriously, just apply and see what happens, you may not need to scramble.

Are you going to be a US MD grad? I don't think you can prematch; if you're DO or IMG, you can (as I did). You may be relegated to the scramble.

Actually, as I think of it more, do you (as a US MD grad) have to pass Step 2 - CS to be in the match? I don't think you have to have Step 2 - CK (as it was when there was no clinical skills exam).

Then, for the PGY-2, keep your ear to the ground, look at Aunt Minnie, and see if you can cultivate relationships with people who know people, who will tell you when there's an unadvertised open spot. That's what worked for a good friend of mine, who went from unmatched to scrambled to chief resident to neurorads at her first choice place come July.

Are you serious? So they kept it around just long enough to screw me out of a $1000?

Bastards! 😡

FYI my school just started incorporating physicals into MS 1 specifically because of the clinical skills component of step 2. It seemed to me like it was here to stay.
