Status: A graduate student who is working hard to build his application in order to apply in the future.
Problem: Fail the final exams in two classes within one night.
Looking for anyone(experts) who knows how to solve this type of problems...

[Thursday]
Tonight there was something wrong with my brain. I had two final exams tonight. I submitted them without any response. When I realized, it was all over. I am trying to send letters to both profesors in order to retake the final... Before the exam, I have received an A in each class. However, if I can't retake the exam, I will reveive 66% which is a D in both classes. This is the way below the min of the graduate student requirement. So I hope everything will be fine tomorrow.

[Friday]
Because of the professor's generosity, I retook one final exam this afternoon but in different version. The other final is scheduled on Tuesday at noon. I still could not do well this afternoon. I think maybe something is really wrong with me...Think about this, a person got 100 and 90 for the first exam and midterm and fail the final, can anyone believe that? If I really get zero in my final, my grade will be 190/3=66%, which will be a "D". That really sucks.

I try to find some reasons to convince myself that my failure of the final is because of the deficiency of the study, not because of the mental problem. I really think it's true because after the midterm I was so confident that I will get A+ in both classes and started to concentrate on other subjects that I have troubles with...I even ignored doing the homework of those two class...

Anyway, be honest with you, if the reason is because of the deficiency of study, then this lesson tells me that I should insist of everything that I am processing until the last minutes or until I get it for sure, don't ever assume that it's necessarily to be mine. There might be a accident happened like this. But if the reason is because of the mental problem, I will probably go to see a doctor though.

Any comments? I appreciate it!

Wow, it does seem pretty wierd... sorry to hear you're having such a hard time.

Seriously, though, what are the symptoms? Are you having trouble remembering the material? Concentrating and focusing? Understanding what you are being asked to do?

If some of these are true, I would definitely go see a physician immediately, and talk to your professors in the meanwhile.

It's hard to know what's going on, make sure you check it out. Good luck.

I'd agree with the last poster...

Has there been anything else unusual? Were you under a lot of pressure/really tired during the exam? can you try to remember what you were thinking when you turned in the blank exam?
Are you doing okay in the other classes? Granted you were not acing them, but has your grades/progress in those classes substantially dropped lately?

Hope things work out.

I got the grade report two days ago. Unfortunately I got B and B+ instead of A+ for those two classes that I mentioned. It's not good but I just try to convince myself that it's an accident and I won't make the same mistake next time.

I still don't know if it's an illness or just lack of sleep. All I know is that I can't afford thinking too much about that. If it's the former, I can't afford it financially; if it's the latter, I will make sure that I will sleep early before the exam. But sure, I do have lots of presure on me, so does everyone, right?
