Hey all ... I may need a little advice regarding application for Fall of 08.

A little info about me:

I graduated in May of 06 with a bachelors in Biomedical Sciences from USF. My overall gpa is a 3.6 something. Im not sure what my math/science gpa is but Ive gotten As and Bs on most of the pre-reqs with the exception of a C in Organic Chem II. I took the PCAT last Oct and didnt do too well I think a 56% overall but I must admit I did not study for it so it is well-deserved. Although I have no experience in Pharmacy whatsoever, I can not envision myself doing anything else. I have never had the desire to do Medicine or anything else. For the past two years I have been working full-time to support myself and my husband. I just left my job because I really want to focus on getting in. I applied for a couple of pharm tech jobs and am hoping to get one soon even though the pay would be less. I guess I will have to retake the PCAT in Oct since I want to get into LECOM Bradenton or UF (St. Pete campus) as those are really my only options as I cannot relocate.

Not too sure about LOR's, I wasnt really "tight" with my professors. Im sure none of them remember me. I may be able to get a pretty good one from a math professor. Im hoping if I get some experience in the Pharmacy that perhaps the pharmacist may write me a letter. My previous employers will not hesitate for a second to write me an awesome LOR however I dont know if that will count for anything.

Soooooooooooooo any feedback? 😀

Sounds like you got your head in the game.
-Good GPA
-Know what schools you want
-Applied for tech jobs, go after those! Like you said getting the tech job is a 2 for 1, you get the experience for your application, to talk about in your interview and hopefully a LOR from the pharmacist.
-Retake the PCAT, maybe look into some study materials.
-Never hurts to have an extra awesome LOR if the schools excepts them to show you work hard and are a personable person you works well with a team.

LOR from pharmacist, one from previous job and one from a professor is a well rounded list of LORs.

Good Luck, Applying early is a great way to get an edge!
