Does somebody know where I can find application of pharmacy of FAMU. I was in college of pharmacy and click every part (admission, student....) but can't find it. I have 3.5 GPA and B.S degree, you guys think I'm able to have a chance to get in?😕

I called and was told that the application would not be available until the end of October (not sure of the exact date)

Your GPA is pretty good and the fact that you have a B.S. definately gives you an egde. However, its hard to say becuase FAMU gives priority to their 6 year pharmacy students and if there are seats left (usually about 10) they select the best of the external applicants. Don't be discouraged though, apply and give it your best shot. Do you have any EC, LORs, Pharmacy experience?

thanks. But why it takes so long. The dead line is Feb right? I don't have any experience, so I just wait for luck?

I don't know why it takes so long, FAMU seems to be really disorganized. As for the experience, it is not required but highly favored. It is not too late to get some pharmacy experience. Try to find a hospital and get started on some volunteer work. Also, write a killer personal statement, that will go a long way. A recommendation letter from a Pharmacist would also look great. Just give it your best shot and be hopeful.

Good luck!:luck:

is FAMU a 6 years or 4 years program ?

Famu has a 6 year program. They screen most of their applicants out of high school. When high school students enter the Famu 6 year program, they do 2years of pre-pharm (pre-requisites) and do the remaining 4 years in the actual pharmacy school. External applicants can only apply to the 4 year pharmacy program and must have already completed the pre-requisites.

6years if you are entering from high school and 4 if you are transferring from another college.

Do you know what we will need for application(personal statement, letters...), so I can prepare them?

actually I applied to this school pretty early last year. My cumm. GPA is 3.7 and my science GPA is 3.55, BS in biology, 4 years of research , 1 year of pharmacy experience. And I got rejected without any invitation for an interview :laugh::laugh::laugh:

really ???? wow...WTF are they looking for ?

thank you for saving me $25

I heard that they prefer accepting Asian and Africa American. If so maybe I have a chance because I'm Asian

No, just apply and keep up your hope, InterDoc. Maybe my LOR's were not strong enuf or something wrong w/ my personal statement :scared:
I think you should apply, just think it costs only $25 to buy yourself a chance. U. of Houston application fee is $150 🙂eek🙂

@Ann: I'm Asian (Vietnamese) too 🙂

Hey I'm interested in applying to FAMU COP for Fall of 09 considering I'm from Tallahassee and I'm at FSU currently majoring in biochemistry with a 3.70 GPA; my science GPA is about a 3.6 which is comparable to fallingsky; I'm graduating in the spring. How competitive do you think this is for getting in? Unfortunately, I don't have pharmacy experience (cant find any as of yet) but I do have a lot of work experience and ECs. So any thoughts would be awesome! I know they don't look at PCAT which I'm planning to take on the 18th just to see how I do. I also have an LOR from an organic professor and an english professor and quite possibly a physical chemistry professor.

My stats were pretty far up there myself and I got a rejection letter within 8 days. That indicates to me that it was rejected out of hand. Not sure what they look for but ... well... I guess I would say it's "something else" and leave it at that.

How can you get rejection while the application is not available until late Oct?

I am talking about last year....

Also their website was hacked and splashed with 1337 speak and pictures of tanks from just after thanksgiving till January last year, you know for extra fun and excitement. I got it out 1/6 because of that and the fact they are not pharmcas. I know people who are there and are very successful. However, I am glad I am not there.

Hey, Lecom-Bradenton is a new school right? Do they require PCAT as well?

Lecom-Bradenton does require PCAT.

Why does it take this school so long? The application is still not up.😡 I hear so many negative things about this school. Should I apply here?

Well, but still have many people suceed from there

Again, do you know what we need for application, so I can prepare them while waiting for application available🙄

Well I went there and picked up a pamphlet. You will need three leter of recommendation one which must be a pharmacist and the others include personal and professor letter of reference. You will need to write a personal statement. Good luck!
