What's the fastest a med school has rejected you?

Application submitted: 9:30p October 29
Application rejected: 6:30p October 30

Got the status update before they'd even finalized my credit card payment.

3 pts above avg on MCAT, .30 pts above avg on GPA.

"Thank you for the $100 secondary fee, now ****-off."

That sucks..🙁

It's so late in the game.. they have probably filled up most of their interview spots. I wouldn't take it personally

Which school? Geez. Money grubbing. I've heard of stories like this - I knew a kid who applied to Harvard in September one year and got a rejection the next morning.

You're applying a bit late, so it isn't too terribly shocking. But, ouch. I'm really sorry to hear that.

Got rejected from Pritzker 4 days after submitting secondary in mid-August. Wish more schools would pre-screen before handing out secondaries.

Know a friend who got screened in for the UCI secondary, submitted and paid, then rejected the next day. This was in early august too. Can't see any other reason for extending the secondary other than to get $$.

Maybe, but they also screen pre-secondary. UCI was my longest rejection... I got the rejection email 2 or 3 weeks after I had already started.

Maybe you can still cancel the payment!

I doubt it.

A few weeks back I was thinking about how I could get my secondary fee back from schools I am not going to attend.
FYI: This thought come into my mind because I am extremely poor at the moment.

This happened to me in August, too! Makes me wonder if they even read my secondary with that fast of a rejection. Funny thing is, I had a fee waiver so it's not like they got any money from me anyway. Why bother sending a secondary if you know you're going to reject my application and you won't benefit financially from it? Oh well.

You should file a dispute with your credit card company. I wonder if they would actually fill out the paperwork to defend themselves? I think you can make a pretty good argument that they didn't do their due diligence, and the cc company just might side with you... I wonder if it would be paranoid to assume that this might blackball you for other schools?

I wouldn't. I know it's weird but I'd rather be safe and just bite the bullet and just accept it. You'd have a lot to lose (such as the school reporting you to AMCAs and blacklisting you) than just ~100$.

haha yah i agree with you there... I wish we had a test case.... Will someone with their top acceptance please apply to a school you have no interest in, and then dispute the payment? Your med school could not rescind your acceptance for any legal reason, and the results of this heroic experiment could save SDNers millions of dollars next cycle!!!

If they pre-screen, how will they get your secondary money? 🙂

No worries, I'm not even considering disputing the payment.

But it is despicable of a school to let me spend 15 hrs writing an essay that's so school-specific it is of zero value for anything else in life, take my $100+, and not have plans to do due-diligence considering the application. Screw them.

Hasn't Pritzker been known to reject people within hours?
