Man... I don't know what to say. Faber is such an athlete and built with some serious guns. However, Aldo reminds of Anderson "the spider" Silva and was able to stop Mike Brown (beat faber x2) for the title via TKO.

Gonna be good.

30 minutes to go.....

I'm a fan of Faber, but he is going to get smoked. Aldo is a beast!!

Also going for the cowboy, Donald Cerrone. I've liked him since I saw him on the tapout show.

Should be fun night.

Wow. I really wanted the cali kid to win. He's held the title for something like 3 years and now has lost 3 of the last 5. I like the US presence in the UFC/WEC. Aldo is no joke. I see him holding on to the belt for years. The dude is tactical, powerful, and has got lightning fast fists and legs. Another Brazilian Anderson Silva in the FW. I guess we'll see :corny:

Aldo is awesome. Great Muay Thai skills!

I want him to move up a weight class.

I just watched the fight. Overall, it was okay. I was expecting much more action. That crucifix was brutal though, at the end.

Here you go...

Fight: Aldo vs. Faber

Aldo is a class act. I think the reason he didn't ended the fight early is due to his respect for Faber.

He could have gone all out on Faber in the last round, possibly breaking Faber's leg if he wanted.

Anyone doing some mix martial arts? I'm thinking of training again. Going to learn some ground combat to add to TKD and Muay Thai.

Been a huge Faber fan when it was easy to be. And I'll remain a fan. But this was HARD to watch. This amazing fighter didn't hurt Aldo ONCE. Game plan all wrong, just like Rogan said: by the time he decided to go to ground, or at least attack, it was 2 rounds too late. Aldo was impeccable and stoic, from the first 10 seconds until the end. Broke him down. If not in a boring way. Faber has to fight maybe 2 more guys he'll destroy, maybe 3, to get back to another chance. IF he is given another chance.

That's sports, anyone want the weather? 😀

Machida Vs Shogun 2 tonight

I think Shogun was robbed last time. I predict he will be wearing the belt this time tomorrow.

MMA is an interesting sport in that age is not a huge factor, but mileage is. Guys like Big Nog, Wandelei, etc. have been in lots of wars, and their mileage is showing....even though they're in their early 30's. Faber is not quite as bad, and can still beat most 145 lb fighters in the world, but there's 5-10 people that can beat him now, whereas 4 years ago he was nearly unstoppable. Part of it is an increase in competition, but most of it is mileage, IMHO. The same goes for Kid Yamamoto, etc.

Shogun fought a perfect fight, while Machida was sort of "off" the entire fight, and it was still a close decision that could have gone either way. Shogun is streaky and inconsistent, while Machida is very cerebral and an almost perfect technician. I feel that Machida will have corrected his mistakes and dominate Shogun in the rematch. That being said, Shogun always has a puncher's chance. That's MMA I guess....

Here's an interesting challenge: When you re-watch some of these close fights, especially if the decision is widely debated, watch it on mute.....Joe Rogan is notorious for being a one-sided commentator, and he can fool us sometimes into thinking a fighter is doing better than he really is.

Here's my picks....keep in mind that because MMA is so unpredictable, I'll be lucky to pick 50% of the fights correctly.

Machida over Shogun (unless Shogun fights another "perfect fight," which he won't)
Koscheck over Daley (even though I absolutely hate him, will likely dominate on the ground)
Stephens over Sam Stout (will be a fun fight to watch, both guys are essentially "Gatekeepers.")
Mitrione over Kimbo (both suck, both will gas if one's not knocked out in the first round)
Belcher over Cote (Belcher is underrated, even though I kind of hate him, too)
Lawlor over Doerkson (Lawlor via superior entrance music)
Davis over Goulet (Goulet=sacrificial lamb)
Grant over Hendricks (although I don't really care who wins this one, and it's hard to pick)

Agree. Machida is very technical not to mention lightning quick. I think this fight might be different from their first meeting. Shogun will use his legs aggressively to give out some pain and to keep some distance, initially. Then, I bet it's going to go submission/ground and pound. Not much of that last time. Machida is a karate type fighter. It is unusual to have that in the ring at the championship level. I believe that B. jujitsu, Muay Thai and 1 punch knockout power are better suited for the octagon which is why I think Shogun is gonna take it.
As you said... it can go either way and Machida is 16-0. :corny::corny:

As predicted: Shogun is the new light heavy weight champ. Went to the mat with some ground and pound + knock out power.😀
