I thought Bio/Chem was fair, PAT first half was hard, second half was easy, and reading was really easy.

PAT is usually my favorite section, and I usually breeze through it! I felt that this was the same way, except for the shape folding. There were a few I spent quite a bit of time on, but other than that, I thought it was quite fair 🙂

I felt like bio went really well! I also wrote the test last year in Nov, and I don't think I was as prepared as I should've been for it. This time around, I went into details pretty heavily and reviewed over and over. The only thing that threw me off a bit but the number of questions about anatomy. I wasn't super prepared for that, but I was able to narrow down answers based on previous knowledge from diff courses. As for chem, I never really know how I perform on this section until I grade my questions or see my score. I felt that it was relatively fair though 🙂.

Reading comp was amazing!! I took the first few seconds to look at each passage, and determine which was the hardest. It was clear that the first one was, so I saved that one for the end, and had tons of my time left to focus on the details of it. I was able to breeze through the other two relatively quickly, and even had time a few minutes left in the end to review any questions I was unsure of.

Overall, I thought the test was really fair! The hard part now is waiting till it's graded haha.

Lolo88, did you write it as well? If so, how'd you find it?

Yes, I did write the exam too. I have my degree in bio, so I felt the bio section was probably the best part! A few tricky questions but not too bad. I thought I would struggle with chemistry but it was better than I thought, not easy but very fair.
PAT was not too bad, I actually finished this time unlike last Nov when I wrote it and looked down on my sheet and saw a number of blanks spots lol!

I really didn't think the reading was that easy but then again I didn't prep for it because I just wasn't sure how to and didn't have time. I didn't care for the first passage that probably threw me off and I had to guess on a number of questions. I should have used the strategy to move on to the next passage, the first passage took up more time than I would have like. Most people seem to think it was easy so I guess my grades will suffer from it 🙁

All in all, I thought this exam was better than the one in November. I am hoping not to write the exam again!!

Yes the waiting part is the worst, I wish it was like the American DAT were you get your results the same day!

kayden28, will you be writing the American version?
Good luck with the results!!! I will probably be back here complaining about my RC grade hahaha ( hope not!)

Don't stress about it now! What's done is done, and all we can do is wait. But don't sell yourself short just yet! I thought I did horribly on chem in Nov, and that was one of my best scores, so you never know 🙂

I probably won't be writing the American version. I'm just going to apply to American schools that accept the Canadian DAT because I just don't have the time to prep for it 🙁 I'm in school taking more than a full course load, as well as working two jobs. I don't want to risk signing up and doing poorly on it for lack of prep time. Will you be taking it?

Thanks, I am trying not to stress about it 🙂 Wow, that seems like a difficult schedule! Good for you for getting the DAT out of the way!!

I am still considering taking the US DAT, I am also applying to schools that accept Canadian DAT. I sure hope I get into a US school because Canadian schools are insanely competitive. I am still wondering what percentage of Canadian students get into US dental schools and what their stats are...

I wrote mine in Saskatoon on the weekend. Felt like Bio was a little difficult and definitely harder than the practice test that comes in the manual. PAT was probably the section I feel I did best on but that stuff seems to come to me naturally, I finished that section with about 5 minutes to go while only guessing on a couple of the questions. RC is hard to tell. I finished on time but there were a few questions that confused me slightly. How long did you guys study for before the test? Can any of you estimate how many questions you think you got wrong on each section and compare that to what score you got in the past? Eg you think you probably got 80/90 on PAT and that got you say a 20 on that section. I know it' just speculation but I want to get an idea of how I did! Thanks

I believe the practice test were a lot easier than the real thing yes. I didn't feel the biology was that difficult, that will be my strongest grade for sure! I have written the DAT before and did really well in the bio section. It's hard to say how many questions I got wrong really. The grades are on a curve too so who knows what the scores will look like. PAT was never my strong point, I made sure to finish this time unlike last time so I can't guess that one at all... .Finally someone you didn't think the RC was super easy!!! It was not hard but I had to guess on a number of the question as I was running out of time!

The last time I wrote the exam, the school was not organized at all and left us waiting for hours and mentally I was over it. I was prep for too long because I had too much going on, I probably studied for a good 2-3 weeks but I previously wrote the exam in nov. Hopefully we all do well and get accepted into US schools! 🙂

How long did you prep for? How did you find the chem section?

No worries if you don't want to share previous scores. RC wasn't that easy but really this was my first time writing it so for all I know I could be getting anywhere in-between a 10 and a 25 haha. Chem wasn't too bad, guessed on a few though. Our school left us waiting as well. I got to the school at 8:15 (15 mins early) and did not even enter the exam room until almost 10:00! It was obviously brutal but I didn't let it phase me. For me tests have a bit of a mental aspect that has to do with how confident you are. I find that if you think you will do well then you usually do so I told myself I would do well and I THINK I did. I prepped for almost 3 full days (I'd say about 20 hours) in total which as I am finding out is an extremely short time compared to lots of other people around here. I'm really hoping that my PAT mark is quite high b/c I feel I did well on it. Do you mind me asking what range your average is in since you're Canadian. Feel free not to answer but my average through 1.5 years of Uni is only an 86.5 so i'll have to crush my finals this term in addition to good scores to be admitted this year.

Oh I didn't see that you asked for my previous scores, sorry!
Bio 21
Chem 19
RC 19
PAT 19
Avg 85.2
I really wanted to improve on the PAT score. I know I will do better on the chem section and probably RC as well. We will see what happens. Since you are in 2nd year (right?) you have a slight advantage as you have just learned most of what will be on the exam. For most of us hope are probably burnt out beyond 2nd, we have to go back and relearn everything so don't worry about your prep time. Good Luck I'm sure you will do fine! 🙂

those scores are pretty darn good! I sure hope my PAT score is >20 but I'm not too confident in saying what my bio/chem score will be. Thanks for the help. Let me know what your scores are when you get them and i'll do the same

Did you write at the University of Toronto in Nov? That's where I was, and they told us to be there at 7:30 to sign in. We didn't start SNS until 11:30, and we didn't get out of there until 3:00 pm! It was BRUTAL! By that point, people were hungry and had lost their edge. I was lucky that I brought tons of snacks and it kept me going.

I prepped for about 2 months before the Nov DAT, and about one month for the Feb DAT but I didn't really buckle down until the week before. My scores for Nov were:

RC: 21
TS: 19
AA: 20
PAT: 23

not bad scores. thats an insane delay! even ours wasn't that long. I didn't bring food and I have to admit I did get a little hungry

That's pretty brutal, I wrote the Nov DAT at UBC actually! Now that it's been a few days, I'm feeling pretty chill and in no hurry to get my results. Hahaha
Awesome scores by the way, especially PAT!

Hey guys, I wrote the DAT last week too.

I wrote MCAT in Jan, so I only had less than a month to prepare. I did Crack DAT PAT, Bootcamp and some free practice questions online.
For the actual test, some of the bio questions were pretty tricky and I don't think I did as well as I expected. I knew DAT Bio was pretty random but the questions were definitely more random than I expected compared with MCAT. Chem was pretty easy and the questions were pretty standard. For CDP, I did 4 test (21, 23, 22, 21 😉). For the actual test, I think key-hole questions were harder and also some TFE questions. The rest was pretty easy. I really hope I can get a good score for PAT. 🙂 I ran out of time for reading and guessed about 4 questions in the end. But to be honest, the passages were easier than I thought, I'm just not good at reading.

Is AA just simply the average of RC, Bio and Chem, or it is weighted toward Bio and RC since these two sections have more questions?

Would you mind telling me the percentile for RC of 19?
