I don't follow much MMA, except Kimbo Slice😀

Fedor seems unstoppable. Can anybody beat this guy?

Fedor is a beast. He's a submission king but last night beat Rodgers at his own game...because he can. I was honestly surprised Rodgers did as well as he did...but he really only got in one good punch. Rodgers acted like a complete bum afterward showing no respect for Fedor. I'd love to see Fedor take on Lesnar.
 
Fedor is ridiculous, his physical size and appearance are less then steller 6 feet nothing 220 pounds. However, he is a fighter with good standup, takedowns, he is a beast. The UFC fighters are more sculpted but they would get their butts handed to them by fedor, including Brock Lesner.
 
Lesnar vs Fedor would be a SICK fight but I'd have to give the advantage to Lesnar. He's a complete MONSTER. And he's only getting better with every fight.

GSP is amazing but my all time favorite is Anderson "The Spider" Silva. That guy is running through some great fighters almost effortlessly!

Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has mononucleosis and won't be able to defend his title Jan. 2 at UFC 108 against Shane Carwin, UFC president Dana White texted to the Los Angeles Times. The fight, originally scheduled for Nov. 21, was pushed back to January because of a Lesnar illness. Now, White says Lesnar has mononucleosis and can't train for six weeks, according to his text to the Times.

I guess you missed the Rogers GNP on Fedor towards the end of Rd 1.

Im not a big Fedor Fan but you have to admit the guy knows how to win(or should I say end) a fight.
 
Fedor won't get full accolades until he handles some of UFC's top shelf guys, regardless of his record or where else he's fought around the world. I'd like to think that eventually they'll iron out whatever contract crap is preventing him from showing up in the UFC...hopefully while he's still at or near the top of his game. I am surprised, though, that he had some trouble (briefly anyway) last night.

It would be interesting to see Fedor and Andersen Silva at a catch weight of 220 or so. Silva is said to 'walk around' at 220, and Fedor goes about 230...pretty close. Nobody has even come close to beating Silva in recent years. The guy is pretty amazing.
 
Silva vs Fedor is probably a fairer fight than Fedor vs Lesner. Fedor kind of reminds of Evans earlier in his career IE fighting at heavyweight but really being a middlweight 190 lbs. Fedor has some weaknesses his punches are wild, and I could see Silva having the quickness to exploit that. Although if silva ever got hit by one of those haymakers its over plain and simple. I have not yet seen if Silva has an iron chin. Lesner vs Fedor, I would go with Fedor because as big as lesner is he does not have the speed of Fedor. Good fights all around.

The heavyweight division goes from 205 to 265 lbs. That is a huge range.

I agree, Fedor is too big for Silva. It's a mismatch.

And for some reason, the biggest guys look physically "small" when they get in the ring with the giant Lesnar.

I didn't get a chance to watch the last PPV by I heard/read that Shogun and Machida went hit for hit and that it was a controversial victory for Machida. I couldn't find the fight anywhere online because sherdog/zuffa has a super strong hold on these fights as soon as they come out. Although, I did see the post-fight conference and Machida looked HURT. Looks like the days of Machida's "elusiveness" are numbered. Dude kinda reminds me of Frank Dux from Bloodsport :laugh:

Anderson Silva is a BEAST. He dogged and straight up humiliated Forest Griffin in his last fight (UFC 101). Talk about a brazilian take-over of the UFC. I kinda like the Thiago's as well (silva and alves), both are pretty bad ass when it comes to bangin blow for blow. BJ Penn too, he's NASTY.

As for Fedor, I heard his interview sometime ago and he said that he didn't WANT to fight in the UFC because they only hold fights in the US and he wants to travel the world. I also heard an interview by Dana White and he said he's trying hard to get Fedor in the UFC but its not looking like its going to happen. But for Fedor to prove he's the best, he needs to fight in the UFC hands down. Until then, his "greatness" in the ring is all speculation.

I haven't watched MMA in years. That guy has a healthy gut with extra padding. Yet he is still thye sht. Good!
 
I've been taking judo for about 18 months, not for competition just really as a way to stay in shape. My take on Fedor, that is coming from a strictly novice participant of martial arts, is that he is terribly dangerous. What really is great about this guy is that his transition game is so seamless and effortless. He can literally go from a striking platform to a quick submission move as fast and smoother than any heavy wt in the game right now with exception to probably Nog. but Fedor destroyed Nog in Pride. It's been noted of his lack of bulging muscles and relatively small size around 5-11 to 6 ft 230ish, from a martial art standpoint his balance and wind is and will be far superior to larger opponents (rogers). I too think Fedor vs. Lesnar would be huge, Until Lesnar has been really challenged and put into a real fight or flight situation I remain somewhat speculative of this guy. Just my take.

Just wanted to throw a bone out to the fight above. If you want to watch a "good" fight as in full 5-15 minutes rounds of two people very VERY well matched for each other, I highly recommend watching Machida vs Shogun. Slightly controversial but great fight nonetheless!

On another note: Anyone else excited other than me about Tito Ortiz making a comeback?? Hopefully he won't get his ass handed to him this time around haha
 
You all sound like a bunch of nerds with no real fight experience. Neither Brock Lesnar nor Mike Tyson would say anything diminutive about Fedor. Yet their fans are a bunch of idiots.

Fedor is by far the best heavyweight fighter in the world, and is arguably the most complete pound for pound mixed martial artist currently competing. He has dominant wins over almost every major heavyweight fighter, including past champions in Pride and UFC. e.g. Nogeira (twice), Crocrop in his prime, Tim Sylvia, Arlovski, and now Brett Rodgers. He's beaten plenty of other famous and talented fighters like Matt Lindland, Babalu, Coleman/Randleman, Mark Hunt, Herring, Arona etc. etc. etc. The only major heavyweights he hasn't fought are Josh Barnett, Frank Mir, and Lesnar, of which Mir and Lesnar only recently became significant. The only reason he hasn't fought Barnett is because Josh failed the steroids test (and helped put the nail in Affliction's coffin).

His only loss was a cut from an illegal elbow (9 or 10 years ago), and he's only been in trouble once or twice in his career, the last of which was against Fujita 6-7 years ago, where after getting rattled, he immediately submitted Fujita.

Can he lose? Yes. In MMA, everyone is fallible and capable of losing. Even Kimbo could toss a lottery-winning haymaker and knock him out, but it is very very very very very very unlikely. Would he beat Lesnar? Probably 9 times out of 10. He's fought much bigger opponents without difficulty.


Still, we'll most likely never see him in the UFC because he is loyal to his Russian managers/promotors, who are adamant that their name brand (M-1) be a co-promotor with any Fedor-involved UFC fight, to which the UFC has said absolutely no. Dana White has tried very hard to get Fedor, and it's most likely never going to happen. This is the main reason that Randy Couture left the UFC a couple years ago, as he wanted badly to fight Fedor, and didn't think the UFC could make it happen.

A monster fighter who's "getting better all the time" may beat someone like Frank Mir who is talented and likeable, but has big gaping holes in his game. However, beating a Sambo master who is literally the most complete mixed martial artist of all time, who has shown himself to have a very solid chin, scarily accurate striking, and very good submission game from the bottom, is very very very very unlikely, as I said before.

This would definitely be an interesting fight. However, Fedor has done this before, having fought the previously top ranked middleweight Matt Lindland, and he made very short work of him.

Also, it's untrue that nobody has come close to beating Silva. Even an emaciated Travis Lutter had him in trouble. Both Dan Henderson and Nate Marquard have legitimate chances of beating him. Still, put him up against overrated cans like Forrest Griffin, and he'll look unstoppable every time.

Yes, Strikeforce drug tests. MMA in the states still has to be governed by the regional state athletic commisions. I think the last fight was in Illinois (Notice it was the Strikeforce/M-1 fight).






I don't think there's any doubt that 1) Fedor is the best heavyweight fighter in the world, and 2) Fedor is past his prime. I also believe that the best heavyweight athletes in the world are not fighting MMA, but instead playing football in the NFL. There are NFL athletes that walk around at 270lbs that are quick and agile, and would make Lesnar look stupid (like they did when he tried out for the Vikings). Still, since there wasn't money in MMA until recently, there isn't a big pool of NFL-level talent doing MMA. Now that MMA is huge, and people will be 12-15 years old learning jujitsu, we can expect that 10 years from now there will be a large stable of fighters that could give Fedor a run for his money. Then again, hopefully by then Fedor will be retired, unlike Couture......
 
Speaking of Couture, I think he may have gotten away with one last night. It was close, but I might have to give Vera the edge. Regardless, I hope I have Randy's physique when I'm 46.

It was a close fight but Randy did control most of it. When you send it to the Judges anything can happen.

As a side note did you see the girl coming in with Randy? She looked like she was 18. Good for him! nice rebound from the divorce.
