I had a question about the fee assistance eligibility program. I know that on the AAMC website, it says that parental financial information must be given when applying for this. I am independent for tax purposes, I'm putting myself through a post-bac while working part time jobs, and my parents provide absolutely no financial assistance for this. Furthermore, they're telling me that their financial information is none of my business, and they aren't being particularly forthcoming about providing this to me. Since my parent's income would not qualify for the fee assistance program, though, does this mean I will be inelligible for it? Even if I make well under the limit for it and am not at all financially dependent on my parents? And should this be the case, what do I do if my parents will not give me their tax information... I mean, it's not like I can force them to do this...???
Any information would be great.

It explicitly says "The FAP does not draw a distinction between dependent and independent student status, and, therefore, all applicants must provide parental financial data for the FAP."

So you're screwed if your parents are rich but won't give you money. You'll most likely encounter the same problems down the line when you try to get aid from med schools :\
