Fee Assistance Program Info

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congratulations to you.

They will reject you if your parents make over the 300% line for their family size, even if you don't live with them and you are under the line, though. FYI.

I agree. I'm glad it will be a big help for you. Thankfully, my in-laws have already offered to help us fund the application process, but it annoys me that I should have qualified and shouldn't have to take it, you know?

Thanks for the insight, now I can use the money I saved for MCAT prep course next year.

Title changed to avoid the incessant innuendos that have been popping up.

Damn you, ruining the fun.

You can take the FAP away from the man, but you'll never take man away from the FAP.

Hi, I am unsure about whether i should apply for this. I could really use this and I think I would be considered for this but I am just hesitant to apply. Do medical schools take into concern whether you can pay the fees when you apply, like most colleges do? I guess i am just concerned that it might put me at a disadvantage in some way in getting acceptances to med school.

They will also reject you if you are completely independent (married, out of the house for years, etc.) and your parents have shunned you. My husband and I definitely qualified, but I ended up paying for the MCAT out of pocket and skipping the AMCAS during applications so I could afford TMDSAS (AACOMAS is understanding, and they gave me their FAP).

I say this because... if your parents are not willing to talk to you or provide information, be aware that the FAP will not be accommodating. They require a court order to prove that your parents no longer speak to you. I wish I had known this before applications began so I could have been prepared.
