I will be applying to pharmacy school for fall 2011. I am ruling out the 6 year programs as I hear they accept very few transfer students and I am debating the 3 year programs. The idea of getting my PharmD one year earlier is enticing. I am assuming there are very short breaks throughout the three years, so I am wondering how grueling it is to be taking pharmacy classes year round. Any input from current three year students would be greatly appreciated, listing the school you are attending and how the program is. Also, are three year programs cheaper or the same cost as 4 year programs? Thank you in advance for any advice/information!

I will be attending a 3 yr. program starting this summer. We get 2 weeks off after every quarter, and you will be giving up your summers, obviously. It's a lot of hard work, because you are cutting off that last year of classroom work, so if you go this route, make sure you are prepared. I imagine it's fast pace, probably relatively similar to taking summer courses. I hope more people who are currently in their programs will respond. I'm curious to see what they have to say.

Thanks! Keep the responses flowing!

I will be attending University of the Pacific in the fall of 2010... We will be going pretty much year round to make up for being a 3-year school. Also, The school is more expensive each year so it ends up being about the same price as the average 4 year school.
