Your list looks good! Although, I'd substitute/add about 2 private OOS friendly schools, just in case! It's better to get multiple interviews/acceptances and then you can choose your favorite one 🙂

It looks like you're a very competitive applicant. You can probably afford to shorten your school list and still do great this cycle. The cost of applications can be quite high.

What are you looking for in your ideal school?

I would like to be apart of an environment that is relatively small and has a strong student-faculty relationship. I would also ideally like to attend wherever I feel will give me the best preparation for applying to specialty programs such as OMFS. I really enjoyed Harvard's campus when I visited, and I am under the impression that Harvard has an extremely impressive specialization rate. Can you speak on the overall environment of the school, from an interpersonal perspective?

Yeah we're pretty good at putting out specialists. Not sure about class of 2019, but I know for the class of 2018 every OMFS applicant got their first choice. The environment is pretty chill, it's pass/fail and no ranking so not really any competition or anything. You spend the first year in the med school, so you can get pretty close with the med students and the class size is pretty big altogether (165ish). 2nd year onward you're with your 35 dental classmates. I'm finishing up 1st year so I can't really say how that is, but from talking to upperclassmen they say they're really tight knit.

Thank you so much-- great feedback! As a current student, is there anything I can do at this point to make myself a more competitive applicant for Harvard c/o 2024? (I recognize this may be asking a little late, as we are in the midst of the application cycle)

Yeah at this point it's just a waiting game until the interview. From your original post, you seem to be on top of everything. Just try to be patient. Continue to be active with volunteering/shadowing/extracurriculars, as interviewers will likely ask what you did this summer. During the interview you'll have a chance to talk about what you're passionate about and that will shine through.
