I will be interviewing at UB soon and I was hoping someone that has recently had an interview there could give me some idea at to what to expect. Thanks ahead of time from your sdn friend, TOOF

that was one of the friendliest schools I been to.... the interview day is composed of 7 sections:

#1) they do a presentation of the school
#2) you are given exactly 10 minutes to do a small writing portion. Its very basic and not related to dentistry. They just want to make sure you know how to conduct a complete sentence. Example would be "tell me what your favorite non-school activity is" or something that easy
#3) you do an actual interview. It will be you vs 2-3 people at the same time. One of them will be a faculty member and the other 1-2 will be 3rd or 4th year students.
#4) Case scenario with Dr. Brown. Dr. Brown is one of the nicest and easiest people to talk with. Basically they call you in 1-by-1 to his office. He'll present you with a 1/2 page prompt about something (ethical) going on in dentistry. And then you will discus what you feel about the topic with him. There is no right/wrong answer, its all hypothetical stuff. They want to see if you can come up with a justified answer and you are able to back it up.
#5) Then you do a tour with a few dental students, they will show you the labs, you will get to meet and talk to many of their students. HUGE PLUS: EACH STUDENT GETS THEIR OWN CHAIR during 3rd and 4th year.
#6) you have lunch with them. That roast beef was soooo good
#7) you are dismissed

Extremely accurate..I just interviewed on the 11th. The case scenario with Dr. Brown is reallllllly low stress. He's the nicest guy in the world and it's more like a discussion rather than you spitting out an answer. The interview is also really relaxed even though its with more than one person. While you're waiting in the room (they're randomly calling people for either the case scenario or the interview) they have students hang out and allow you to ask any questions. They were really down to earth and provided a lot of information on their experience there. Good luck!
