Texas resident
USMD - Low tier med school
STEP I: 221
STEP II: 230
Rank: Bottom Quartile (bottom 10%)
Clinical grades: All Passes
Research: 4 publications (basic science research in biomed engineering nothing clinical)

This is not a complete list but I would like feedback on the following specific programs. Have strong ties to Texas and New York.

NY Presbyterian Queens Hospital
Hofstra/Northshore LLJ
NYU

Baylor
UT Houston
UT Austin Dell
UTHSCSA
Texas A&M Scott&White

Would prefer to stay in TX or NY due to family reasons. How competitive are these programs? Also does anyone know the average STEP I for these programs?

Thanks

All EM is now competitive and your scores/grades are below the current average. You will need to do some major networking, get some good SLORs, and probably broaden your net. Good luck.

See above. You will probably match if you open up your options.

Thanks

Does anyone else have feedback or comments on programs on my list?

Or just more specific comments about chances for ANY low tier programs in particular?

How do you know if a program is low tier?

And what does it mean to specifically network in EM?

u need to talk to people in the know. please get a mentor, talk to the class above you. apply broadly >40 prog

check out some of the newer programs as well. but definitely apply broad, this should be easy to do in NY as there are so many programs
