Just got a big fat R after interview from med school. Only one interview left and no other school extend ii. Do schools let you know whether they extend ii or silence mean pre-ii rejection. Thank you. I guess my CARS score is the issue for my MCAT.

I suggest you do the same or apply to podiatry if you live close to a school and can get away with no housing costs (150k vs 300k at 6-7% interest can be appealing to some). I don't know I need to find pod to shadow or maybe need to get the letter from pod doctor. So I guess it is impossible to apply this cycle for pod school unless pod school don't need pod shadow and pod doctor's letter. Or maybe re-study MCAT again and see how it goes.

You might need to reevaluate your interview skills and work on doing plenty of mock interviews with friends and families. I know english is not your first language, but it is important to be able to communicate with patients efficiently. Your stats got you interviews - I've heard on here that every 3 II should turn into 1 acceptance. You need to kill your last interview and practice for it like your life depends on it.

You've still got one interview left. I know it has to be very hard, but you have to do your best to drop the negativity so you don't carry that energy into the interview. I was in your shoes with one interview as well, so I know it is stressful and I at times felt myself slipping into a similar trap. Head over to SDN interview feedback and try practicing maybe with the example questions. I know a lot of people say don't do this because you will sound rehearsed, but as someone that isn't the most extroverted/people person, having a good idea of what I was going to say helped me a lot. Do your best to think positively though going in, you don't want to create a self fulfilling prophecy and shoot yourself in the foot. Good luck man I'm rooting for you.

Do not apply to the Caribbean. A simple search on SDN will reveal that it is a costly mistake going the Caribbean route.

But I don't get in to med school now. I only have ARCOM waitlist and I am pretty sure they will not accept me since BCOM rejected me. I don't know any way for me to become a doctor now beside Caribbean.

Send a letter of intent to ARCOM. The waitlist for ARCOM moves fairly quickly.

I am sorry to hear that, but please do not go Caribbean or Podiatry without knowing what you are getting into.

Honestly probably not the issue.

Probably part of the issue, but I don't think that's low enough to have everyone automatically throw you out, especially on the lower end of the spectrum (e.g. BCOM, WVSOM). Not saying it isn't a point of improvement, but I would look elsewhere if you're concerned about a game-ending red flag.

I think the general wisdom says not to give up after just 1 cycle (and please do remember we are only mid-cycle right now). If you don't get in this round, you take a year and beef up your application, study hard and get a better MCAT score. If Podiatry is an option for you, you can use that time to do some shadowing and get a DPM letter to support that application as well. Turning to the Caribbean at this point seems reckless and drastic! You actually want to become a doctor, not just a student at a predatory institution that offers less than a 50% chance of making that goal. And if you're willing to give up at this point, then you don't stand much chance in that kind of situation either!

But BCOM is considered slightly lower grade requirement med school and they rejected me post interview. Do you think I still have a chance for any school or I am done for this cycle.

They offered you II = no red flag in your app and your stats are fine for them. Post II rejection is probably due to your interviewing skills.

I don't know how wrong is my interview skill. I practiced a lot and browsing questions before the interview and construct some answers before that. I guess I did not answer well I guess.

So, work on your interview skills. If grades were your problem, you wouldn't have received interviews. You don't give up from your first round of "No's." You use them to evaluate yourself and make necessary changes and improvements. I know some people who have contacted schools that rejected them and inquired about ways to improve their application.

This process is stressful. It wasn't meant to be easy or relaxing. If it were, even more people would apply and get into med school and become doctors. Anything worth having is going to make you quickly question yourself and feel uncomfortable but then you are immediately reminded of why you're on this path. Don't throw in the towel and go straight to plan B or plan Z. Because if you think this is stressful, trying to match from a Caribbean school will be even more stressful than you can imagine.

Try reaching out to the BCOM admissions committee to see if they can tell you why you were post-interview rejected. I know some schools do this, I don't remember if BCOM is one of them, but it's worth a shot!

If this is only your first cycle applying, even if you don't get anymore interviews, do not give up hope! I know so many people who are in medical school who applied 2 or even 3 times before they got an acceptance. You've gotten 2 (or is it 3?) interviews so far--that's more than a lot of people. Don't give up hope!!!!

Don't give up. The fact that you got a few interviews is a great sign. I got two my first (DO) cycle and got waitlisted and never came off. The next cycle I got two interviews at different schools and two accepts.

Keep your head up! The process can be super frustrating but don’t give up. I had to take an unexpected gap year because I knew my initial stats weren’t competitive. It was devastating at the time but I was able to gain more working experience and moolah and motivated me to work even harder if given the chance. Looking back, I am super thankful for it.

If this cycle doesn’t work out, take the year to do some volunteering, gain some more clinical experience and prepare yourself for the next year so you can hit the ground running as soon as the application cycle starts. Apply to a broader range of schools than what you did before, improve those interview skills and there will hopefully be a school that gives you some love. You still have that one interview left so please take the suggestion of doing mock interviews with family/friends and especially professionals if you can so you can absolutely ace it, and if not, you your application got you some interviews this year and you can get interviews next year too!!

Usually a post II rejection has something to do with your interviewing skills. If they extended an II then your "numbers" are probably fine for their program. Recommend working on those interviewing skills! Good luck to you OP!
