Hello All! I'm new to this so I guess I should introduce myself first. My name is Rae im 24 and live in Florida. I'll receive my AA degree in December and in looking at older posts, it seems as if most have already submitted their PHARMCAS apps or are getting ready to, that makes me feel sooo behind. English was never really one of my strong subjects and am having trouble with my personal statement🙁 With the large increase in pharmacy apps in the past years im really stressing about my gpa and pcat scores, I took it the first time in june and got a 79% composite🙁 I have a 3.2 GPA, and I'm worried those wont be good enough. I'm thinking about applying to like 9 schools, I don't want to have to go through this process again. I'm going to take the PCAT again in October and was wondering if anyone has any experience or knows anyone that has taken the Kaplan online or classroom course? Also, I'm not sure how to approach my professors about getting a LOR, I'm the quiet student in the back of the room that does her work and gets decent grades, any ideas on how to ask for them? Knocking on their doors during office hours and saying, "whats up? I know I havent spoken to you and you probably don't even know my name but i was wondering...." Seems like not a good thing to do. Thanks for any help you guys can give, good to meet you all!

i think you just go ahead and apply!! now is not too late...the more schools you apply to, the more chance you got... i've heard that they accept people in a "whole package", including your gpa, pcat, work experience, letter of rec, extracircullar (community volunteer), and your personality (whether you fit for pharmacy) at interview......don't worry too much and apply.....after everything's done and completed....then just wait for interview, like i am right now.......it was simple for me when i asked for a letter of rec....i was in your situation, too. I didn't talk much to my teacher....like not at all.....but i just took a risk and come to him (after class) and simply request, "Can you write me a letter of recommendation?" then i just wait for him to say Yes, I can.....That's all...After that he even let me read his letter before he sends it.....He wrote a lot of good things.....So yea, good luck to you in the application process!! 🙂

I had a 3.1 GPA going into my second year of undergrad and was in a similar position. I just got my self together, got a 3.88 the next semester, a 3.3 the semester after and got accepted to WVU with a 3.27 (mean GPA = 3.63 that year.)

If you can show a vast improvement and do well on the PCAT, they will consider you. Don't lose hope.
