Fellowship Ranking without Step 3

Quick question: how much does step 3 matter as far as final ranking for fellowship is concerned? I am applying for PCCM this year and got a handful of interviews but question is how big of an issue is this going to be when programs rank applicants? Thanks in advance.

why didn't you take step 3 yet? Did you fail it?

If a buyers market its an unnecessary flag.

I didn't fail it and my program didn't have a stringent requirement about when to take it as long as it was done prior to graduating. I am planning on taking it in December during one of my electives. In hindsight, delivering a donkey kick to myself for putting it off.

Whats done is done at this point. If I am a PD and all things being relatively equal, I rank the guy with a step 3 over the guy without one. Probably not a huge deal though.
