Hello,

I know that getting an internal medicine residency from the carribean isn't too tough, but what about getting fellowships after completing a IM residency? Is it more difficult for carrib. students? Is there any bias against carrib. grads? Will carrib grads need to do extra stuff like research...etc?

I m intersted in perhaps doing a cardiology or a GI fellowship after IM. Would i have any significant problems obtaining these after completing an IM residency?

I can only offer second-hand information but apparently from what I've heard from Ross grads going into fellowships like heme/onc or pulmonary/critical care is that it doesn't matter as much which med school you come from. By then, it's much more focused on the residency and how good you are. I'd still expect some bias at top places though. That's my $.02, hopefully someone with real experience comes across this thread.

People say if more depends on how u did in ur residency, but what criteria do they measure this by? What do u mean by how good u are?

Exactly that. If you do well in residency, that seems to overshadow where you went to medical school.
