Hi there! I'm about to start my PhD program at Rutgers this fall, and I'm looking for a female roommate to share a 2-bedroom apartment with me starting in August. I have a few things listed about my ideal roommate and myself as a roommate below, but I don't expect to find someone with the exact same interests as me. If you're pretty close and think we'd be compatible, please PM me.
A few things about my ideal roommate:
- clean, doesn't have to be tidy
- doesn't smoke indoors
- will be busy, like me
- doesn't need cable/home phone
- needs internet
- preferably no pets
- can hang out, but not necessarily BFFs
And about me as a roommate:
- clean, will be tidy with shared spaces out of courtesy, but my own room won't be
- don't have a set shower time (morning or evening)
- I live by myself right now, and currently don't have a TV -- I personally don't need one
- I like to come home to a quiet place. Whenever I want to be social, I usually go out.
- I rarely cook, but I anticipate that will need to change. So I'm up for experimenting with recipes!
- I lived with the same roommate for 3 years, and we're good friends. If you'd like more info about me as a roommate, I'll ask her to contact you.
What I absolutely need in an apartment:
- safe, quiet location. No college parties, pleeeease.
- laundry on-site
- someplace close to Rutgers and the train station
What I *almost* absolutely need in an apartment (2 out of 3 would be awesome):
- indoor parking/garage available
- fitness center
- rent that is all-inclusive (includes utilities)
Bottom line: I expect to be stressed in grad school. It'd be nice to room with someone who's in the same boat so that we could have complementary lifestyles and provide support for one another. I would also prefer to reduce stress by paying a little more for things like easy access to a fitness center/laundry and no-hassle bills. Let me know if you're interested, or would like any more information!
