where does fertilization occur, the fallopian tube or the abdominal cavity?

Fertilization occurs in the fallopian tube, which is also known as the oviduct.
Now, here is a counter question. What is the term for the maturation of the sperm before fertilization occurs?

When is the ovum finally made?
There was a thread about this earlier and is it while the sperm is fertilizing it?

Thanks

So maturation occurs in the semeniferous tubules and the epidydymis.
Is this true: Sperm body cell is made in sem. tubules and the flagella is attacked and it continues to mature for another 40 days in the epidydymis, and is stored there also?

Thanks

sperm production is in sem tubule & maturation occurs in epidydymis. I don't know the exact days and stuff but I am pretty sure you dont need to know all that in detail.

Remember that oogensis is arrested at prophase I of Meiosis I at birth. Then during ovulation it finishes Meiosis I and produces secondary oocyte. If sperm penetrates this secondary oocyte then it undergoes Meiosis II and produces ovum. Then the second sperm fertilizes this ovum to form zygote.

sperm is produced in the seminiferous tubules and matured in the epididymus. Although i dont know exactly what happens, final maturation occurs inside the female. This is called capacitation.

Thanks you ma'am 😉
