for the background check, certiphi does it correct? What information do we need to give them and what do they have access to?

What information will medicals schools have access to? I have some information that I would prefer them not see ( nothing law breaking)

Certiphi does the background check, that is correct.

You provide them (or the school? I can't remember) with your legal name, current address and previous addresses, and your SSN.

They have access to any convictions (not sure about charges) against you at the local, state, and federal level. I'm not as positive about your last question, so I'll let someone else who's more knowledgeable chime in there.

Thanks buddy. Reason I ask is that my father is a criminal and terrible human being. I don't want his name to come up in my background check. ( I left his name out of AMCAS as my mother remarried when I was young and I put my stepfather's name instead).

Gotcha, I wouldn't be too concerned about that unless you both share the same name (as in, he's John Smith and you're John Smith Jr.). Even then, I don't think it would come up, since the check goes through your SSN.

Good luck with your applications 🙂

Thanks a lot 🙂 So SSN only gives information about myself correct? ( Sorry to be a nuisance, just don't want all my hardwork to be jeopardized by things outside my control)

Yep, your SSN is your own personal identification number given to you at birth by the government. No one should have the same one as you (unless your identity has been stolen, which happens but it would be unlikely they'd use your identity if they were arrested). It's totally fair for you to be worried that outside forces might prevent you from pursuing your dream, but I think in this particular instance you can rest assured that your background check won't disclose any information about your father.

Thank you very much! This paranoia just dawned on me and I immediately had to post. I truly appreciate it buddy 🙂
