Hey guys - still hanging on to my 1 wait list. I was wondering if people still withdraw from schools this late. According to the secretary - my file is one of the few applications still with the chair of the admissions committee. All the rest are either in the office or have been rejected / taken off the waitlist. The secretary has been telling me to hold out until orientation on August 10th, and that I ought to be a little hopeful. What do you guys think? I don't think my file is competing with too many others right now...but then again I think the majority of people are pretty final on their decisions to attend. I really wanna start this fall. I've submitted my next AMCAS already, obviously.

I think the general trend is that waitlist movement is the largest in the couple of weeks after May 15th and it gradually declines after that. At my school a week ago, I have heard that there are a few people (n < 5) who are holding multiple acceptances and will have to make their final decision soon. So, I think there is still some movement from the waitlists though it is very little.

You never know, there are plenty of stories of people who withdraw in august and that waitlister gets the spot. Heres hoping its you!

Hey Food, I think you have as good a shot as anyone does for an acceptance at this point. I'm in a similar situation with UTH. They've got my file at committee, they were supposed to have a meeting Tuesday about it. I'm so anxious, so I definitely feel for you. Here's to both of us getting in this year!

It happens, there's one application on MDapps, and I ended up realizing it was someone I TA'd intro bio with, where the guy already had some acceptances, so was in a more comfortable position than you, and then got pulled off Mt. Sinai's waitlist in July, so you never know.
