And?

Aren't Washington, Roseman, and Oregon oos unfriendly? Unless AZ is part of the WICHE states. I don't know.

I say add Marquette and Creighton in favor of some of the new or expensive OOS schools on your list (i.e. Roseman, LECOM, MWU-IL, Minn). However, your list is solid. I really enjoyed both schools on tour and interview and for being private their price is reasonable compared to other schools.

Can you explain why?

You have about a 1.96%* chance as an OOS. Then again, still better than USC's 1.87%*. You know what, since you're part of WICHE, go ahead and apply. Good luck though:luck:

* Values were extrapolated from doc toothache's 2013 guide (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=942453) which came from the 2013 ADEA Official Guide Book to Dental Schools. And since no one on this forum has raised any eyebrows on doc toothache's guides, I assume 100% accuracy.

I would but I have cc credits. iirc, doc's guide said that they don't accept any cc credits.

Also, to those asking about the OOS schools, they are the wiche schools. 🙂

I thought USC was OOS friendly?

I'm assuming my chances increase drastically though as I'm allying through the wiche program right? 2% acceptance rate isn't worth the app fees >.>

According to ADEA 2013 Guide:

In state
1213 Applicants
188 Interviewed
104 Enrolled

Out of state
1942 Applicants
73 Interviewed
34 enrolled

So I guess the odds are calculated by taking the number of out of state enrolled and dividing by the number of total applicants.

Not quite. I divided total OOS acceptances (42) over total OOS applicant pool (2246). Also, those are UoP's numbers you have up there. It's better to use the amount accepted rather than enrolled. USC is not a 'safety school' by any stretch of the imagination; this would be quite insulting, especially from their perspectives.

I don't get it. Isn't this the list of graduating students, not the list of accepted students to the program?
Both. Except that's the partial list, and that has got to be the closest thing you'll ever get. The institutions from where these individuals obtained their education prior to might elucidate to what this school is looking for.

Back to OP.

I was just messin' with you. I would definitely recommend applying to Wash since you're part of WICHE, regardless of what the statistics are. If it's anything I've learned from last cycle it's that 90% of all statistics can be made to say anything. All these numbers don't mean anything to me at all anymore. Last cycle during one of my interviews at my ISS's, the dean himself told my group that those who interviewed were standing at a 62.3% chance of getting accepted, and this number was consistent year-round. And to top that off, according to TMDSAS my chances based on previous cycles in terms of GPA & DAT is between 56.7% and 69.4% chance. These numbers were also fairly consistent year-round. And no, I was not deficient in EC, LOR's, shadowing, volunteering, leadership, and etc. Nor did I butchered the interviews. I will certainly guarantee you that there are many others stuck in similar situations as me. To my surprise on Dec 3, 2012, the one's who did received the glorious email were the one's you'd least expected and vice-verse.

Long story short, apply to as many places as possible, especially to those where you feel that you fit the d-school's mission statement or equivalent.

Koalified, what was your point in posting in this thread and belittling the OPs chances at Washington? It seems as though you are doing nothing more than venting at your previous results from last cycle.

To the OP, you have a good list and have obviously considered the details of the application cycle. Good luck to you!

Considering how disgruntled some users have come to regarding threads like these, which has resulted to other threads like this(http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=1011502), I still enjoy responding to these threads and helping others. And out of the kindness of my own heart, I provided the OP with useful data that I manually calculated myself from published sources, opinions, and anecdotes to illustrate where I'm basing my opinions off of, just as OP requested.

Well, I apologize to those who feel that my use of language portrays this 'belittling.' That is not my intent nor is venting.

OP, you have my 👍. It's quite clear you've done your research as I've noticed you didn't include other 'safety' schools (e.g. Tufts, BU, USC, NYU, and etc.). I sincerely hope your plans come to fruition.
