Hey I'm making some final touches on my PS (hoped to have submitted by now, but it's looking like July 15-20...hopefully I can finish my secondaries by the end of August)...anywayyy....

I realized I referenced a patient's name in my PS a couple times, along with the real hospital name...should I change these to "John Smith" and "General Hospital" for anonymity's sake? I really don't know if it matters, but I would rather check first...

Also, for new paragraphs, should I just skip a line? indenting looks weird on the amcas...thanks for any responses!

IMO, keep the real first name, drop the last. Keep the real name of the hospital. Anonymity isn't a big deal in this instance since only a select few people will be reading your PS and it won't be published anywhere.

Skip a line for paragraphs.

You have to respect the patient's right to privacy. That means you can't use the real name (first or last) or anything that could identify him specifically. Usually people just use something non-specific like "Mr. P".

The real hospital name is fine.

Oh, gotcha...well I can just change the name to "John," it doesn't take away from the story at all anyways...the privacy thing was what concerned me, i didn't want to cause any problems...thanks for the help!

In an acronym : HIPAA. Change the name.
