I have been a silent observer for the past month while i have studying for the DAT and wanted to provide any help or support to those of you who are studying for the test.

My scores
PAT 21
AA 21
OC 20
GC19
BIO 23
RC 22

As for studying i took the kaplan class and then supplemented it by taking topscore and achiever tests. My scores on both of the topscore and achiever tests ranged from 16-18 in the science section and 21 PAT for topscore and 17 PAT for achiever.

Overall i would say that topscore is the most useful test prep. It really does imitate the real test quite well.

Let me know if any of you have qustions

great job! these are good scores!!
My scores are kinda similar so far I've only taken 2 topscore tests but have only been able to pass or get 20 in RC and PAT (once) but some scores are as low as 15 🙁 still. How did you jump to all above 20 scores when your practice scores didn't show that...tha'ts awesoem!! was it just test day nerves giving the extra umph? were your scores gooing up in a trend? i guess i have low scores right now and your scores just gimme hope that even though i'm not getting all 20s right now that there's still a possiblity to get them on test day so i'm just trying to figure out how to best acheive that...any tips cuz you did it so well? 🙂

congrats again though on your awesome scores and g'luc with everything else!! :luck:

I would say don't worry as much about the scores you get as what you get wrong. Understand why you got the question wrong, whether it be that you simply didn't know the answer or you misread the question. . .. I thought i bombed the bio section when i took the test but ended up with a really good score. Just learn from your mistakes and be confident when you take the test

So you found the kaplan class to be helpful? Did you take it online or in class?

I am really struggling on GC and QR...any advice?😕

Congratulation, very good scores. I am sure u will get in. Could u please give me some supplement material that helped u when u were studying for bio.

i think that the kaplan material is very useful and the class is a waste of money. I know that you can sign up for just the online material which includes online videos of all of the classes.

I was in the same position as you. I did awful on on the qr and the gc on all the practice exams. I found the GC section to be much more conceptual. I think i only had three questions that needed calculations. Just keep reading and taking practice tests and you will get it. As for QR you need to learn some of the tricks so that you can get through the word problems quickly. I didn't find the QR to be too tough the questions were just time consuming.

As for additional material, i used a kaplan GRE Bio book, the campbell's bio book and wikipedia.

great scores, was the math harder than kaplan subject tests?? some pple have said so,

everyone, along with you, keeps saying the GC is more more conceptual than long, draw out equations/number crunching. What topics do you think are most important to know "conceptually," rather than equations?

I'm not sure how the actual QC relates to the kaplan QC. I recently took the GREs so i had already studied for the math section. I didn't find the math section to be difficult it was just time consuming because there were a lot of word problems. It took more time to decode the question than to solve it.

The GC conceptual questions deal with manipulation of equations and with application of facts. I only had a few questions that actually required equations the other questions were based on atomic radius of various elements in oxidized states and solubility of two different molecules after treatment with a base. Overall, I found the kaplan material to be more than adequate.
