I retook the DAT and did really well...
PAT 24
Bio 20
Chem 19
Orgo 21
RC 20
QR 19
TS 20
AA 20
For the sciences (and QR) I studied the Destroyer like a madman. Nancy and Dr. Romano are just friggen awesome. They made a solid study guide, and I can't thank them enough for it. 😎
For the reading portion i borrowed my brothers exam krackers Mcat verbal reasoning book. It is different from the DAT, but really tests ur reading and stamina. Study hard for this cause schools are putting more weight on this section, merely cause the board exams have changed to more passage & case based questions.
I had studied for the PAT when i took the exam last January, so this time i didn't really look over it and scored in the 99% 😀 . Regardless, as cool as this score is, the truth of the matter is that schools don't care much about the PAT. Last year i solely used Kaplan. It is really good. I'd rather do tons of easy problems and build my confidence, than Acheiver's stuff and feel ******ed about my chances.
If you want to do great on the exam, get the Acheiver/Topscore only to get a feel for the exam cause their questions are a bit outdated. Destroyer is perfect for the sciences. I don't know of a perfect book for QR or Reading, but destroyer and examkrackers helped me out. And buy the Kaplan blue book, and try to get their DAT subject tests from a friend who took the actual lecture/online classes.
I seriously got a way different version of the DAT than what has been mentioned on this board. Different reading passages, more anatomy questions, weirder slides, alotta chem calculations etc. Bio was kinda tough... so take some upper level Bio courses. Orgo and the PAT were the easiest parts for me. Hope this kinda helps. Take care, and good luck to all the rest of you 🙂
