Finally, ebook textbooks

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is awesome, definitely a plus for those schools.

As much as I hated RC on the computer on the DAT, imagine how much space and backache this would save... I'm sold.

I think it would take me a while to adjust to reading textbooks on a computer. I'm already in a bad habit of skimming through web pages with print.

Personally, I'd rather have a book. I stare at a computer all day long at work, now, and don't really want to do it all through dental school, too.

Is this article from March of 2000?

It would take some getting used to, but I think its worth it. I'd much rather carry a laptop around, especially if I'm gonna be biking around, which is the plan.

The crazy part is the cost: $3000 to $6000?! For a DVD! That would really suck if somebody stole your laptop with that in it. My other thought is piracy- how many people are going to burn this cd. I'm sure they have that figured out though. Some sort of online activation thing I would imagine.

I hope my school offers this when i get accepted.

You must activate the disc online, you can only put it on 2 computers. Even if you could burn it and activate it, it would not really matter because the school will make you pay for it anyways. It is nice, lighter and much easier to search than text books. Expensive, but so are books.

UNLV's material is all on the laptop you get first year.

wow thats pretty dated, so that should mean most schools should've adopted this by now. I'm on the computer too much already as is, and this is gonna be another incentive for me to spend another 4 years of my life in front of the computer.

yea... I go to the computer when I need a break from studying, and while I'm on the computer I'm obviously not studying/reading. I think switching away from a book is gonna be difficult for me in that sense :/
