Hello, everyone. As I said in my previous post, I have been lurking around here for a few weeks and finally took my DAT today. I found it very helpful reading other's breakdowns of their DAT experience and decided to share mine!
Official Scores (See attached image):
Perceptual Ability: 23
QR: 18 (Low I know)
RC: 24
Bio: 21
OC: 27
GC:20
TS: 22
AA:22
Materials Used:
The materials I relied on the most were most definitely Bootcamp and the Destroyer (no surprises here). Without a doubt the best possible representation of the test you could ask for. With that being said, they are definitely difficult so do your best not to get discouraged when you get a low score. Simply review why you missed the question and remember it for next time. Like everyone says, Destroyer will DESTROY you the first time you go through it but I kid you not there were many questions on the real test that mirrored Destroyer questions almost exactly. In addition to this I used Feralis notes for Biology. Absolutely necessary you use this resource.
Actual Test:
As far as the actual test goes I do not have a whole lot of insightful information to add. The biology was very random just like everyone says so no surprise there. General Chemistry was definitely much easier than Bootcamp and Destroyer and I honestly do not know how I scored low on this section (I was averaging 22+ on bootcamp). Organic was very simple like most people say and the RC was much easier to comprehend than Bootcamp. The QR was very straight forward and again I am not entirely sure how I scored low. ADVICE ON THE PAT SECTION: BECOME FAMILIAR WITH PROPORTIONS. Everything else was very similar to bootcamp in terms of difficulty, the angles are MUCH easier so meter them, but don't dwell on them.
Key Advice:
Perhaps one of the most valuable study habits I had was to study a little bit of everything each day. I started studying five weeks ago and averaged about 8 or so hours a day. In addition to this, DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED. Sometimes you will low Bootcamp scores and you will feel like Destroyer has no mercy but it is worth it. Like @Ari Rezaei from Bootcamp says, If you start looking forward to the test than you are ready. I averaged around 18-22 for each section of bootcamp and achieved my goal of a 21, you can too.
New Features:
In addition to this, they did indeed incorporate the strike through and highlighting features on the test. The strike through is very helpful during the Bio in particular when you are reviewing marked questions. Also, make sure your answers are marked after you click them. During the QR section I realized that I must have missed the bubble on two questions with about 15 seconds left so make sure you double check!
Wishing you all good luck, thank you for all of the advice.
