For those who have been through the admissions process before, I am wondering how financial aid works. Do you know your award once you are accepted or after you have had to put down a deposit?

We just started school this week and my financial aid was awarded a few days ago...of course I didnt actually get most of it. The school takes its tuition first and then gives you a direct deposit or a check with the rest that you use for cost of living.

So say come December, you get 3 acceptances, do you know what your financial aid award is at each school before you have to put down deposits?
