Does anyone have first or second-hand information regarding this program? I am interested in finding out what type of applicant gets in (gpa, gre, mcat), what the chances of being accepted into Chicago Med School are after the program, and how much financial aid they offer on average. Thanks.

I didn't know we still offered this program...you do have to keep your grades up to get accepted to the med program, I believe at least B's, and there is no guaranteed admission but at lot of people got in. I think numbers are variable, but I would guess 3.0/25, but show interest and you should get in. You will get need based financial aid like any other med student. You are very well prepared during that year, but be prepared to work hard. I didn't do it personally but I know a lot of people who did, and they are doing very very well now. The nature of the program gives you an edge for things like radiology because of the advanced instruction you are getting. You also take classes with the first year med students...and the 2 people that I know personally did extremely well in med school and Step 1 after being accepted, one is going for rads and the other ortho this year....and should have no problem matching well based on their numbers.

I had heard the school was cutting the program though. If you want a real back door into med school do the applied physiology prgram. You also take med classes, and a mix of other easier ones, and in the past all you had to do was keep a B average and there was guaranteed admission, although not in writing. Then once you get in, your first year of med school you are taking half the classes of evedryone else because you got credit from the year before...people tended to do really well with this program, though I think they are tightening it up a bit too.

Best of luck...

See I was interested in this program too...until I saw the curriculum! 😱

56 credits in under 1 year?! Sounds like it would be really good prep for something like rad onc or radiology though...and medical physio and biochem with the M1s is definitely a big plus. The Applied Physio program looks good though. But both programs cost what...$52,181.00 all costs considered! :wow:

I don't know anything specifically about how effective the program is in getting people into Rosalind Franklin, but if you dig up some of the Applied Physio threads...some posters kind of hinted on how well you have to do to get in...

Good luck! :luck:

Hmmm, that is interesting. I wonder if people could apply to both the Applied Physiology program and the imaging program. I've been working in radiology research for a year, and want to apply to the appl. physiology program at Finch/Franklin, but I wonder if I have a better chance of getting in the imaging sciences program.
Part of me feels cautious towards the imaging program though - i bet it is hard-core physics and algorithms though, def not my favorite 🙁

fyi.

i believe the MIS's last graduating class was this past academic year. it was a small program.....only around 20 per class. don't know why they decided to cut the program, but ALOT of changes have been going on these past couple of years (good stuff 😀 )

the applied physio is still going on strong. search other posts as suggested above.

hope this helps.
